The moment the shoot ended i knew things were about to get brutal and well, the gut feeling was absolutely right.
I love shooting films but editing them? I couldn’t hate anything more. I need things done very specifically and i knew i had to do them.
Let’s start with dialogues and sounds. Once we got done with shooting, I asked our college coordinator to give us the music room to record since it was sound proof and well, he gave us the keys. We divided it into two days of work. I started the first day with Khadeeja’s dialogues that we eventually had to remove since they felt too chaotic. Day 2, we recorded Muzammil and Essa’s dialogues after that we moved on to background music. I had already been looking through other short films and film openings to gain an idea on editing. There I found the perfect background music track that was going with the exact feel I wanted which was ‘whimsical orchestral, acoustic, and French-inspired jazz‘

Color grading was a dreadful experience after watching like 10 YouTube tutorials, I went for whatever felt right cause neither of them helped. I knew I couldn’t go by the handbook but basically, needed more saturation and more colors.
Faded in and out for the opening titles to give it a more soft look and decided to keep them in the beginning since, putting them in the end made it look more similar to a short film instead of an opening. I loved how the opening credits came out.
Cutting and arranging of clips was the most time consuming and took us a whopping 15 days to complete after a lot of arguments.
That’s about it.
