Selected Genre and respective audience
I had once written a narrative story on if time were a person and how it gives you more than we see…. Looking back, if time were actually a person…. I’d slap him for the amount of stress he has given me (yes, he’s a he). Anywayyy, I’ve been taking meditation sessions for an upcoming performance which has taught me to embrace my emotions and embodying them to feel less violent. Have I been less violent? That’s a question for my crew members.
I am afraid of making something solely without anyone’s perspective or choice involved hence, I wanted a democratic decision on the genre (something Pakistani politicians fail to do to this day). Challenging my story writing skills, Mirab made a Google form which involved a few questions I mentioned (We’ll talk about that later). For Genres I had a few in mind, political thriller, social drama and real life stories. My friend however, argued with my perspective by saying “Media is a form of escapism, why talk about the same issues they have to face in reality?”. I have always been into films that are more grounded and relatable, the rage in me to highlight issues and address them is something people often shy away from. I sincerely apologise if my ideas are too political and ambitious for your taste. To make this film watchable I’ll introduce characters or stories that are relatable yet comforting. Besides, what is art that doesn’t bring you out of your comfort zone?
Now, about the Google form

Here’s a picture of the response Mirab sent. We asked 4 questions:
Age?
Preferred genre?
Fav mix of two genres?
Social media platform you use the most?
These questions gave us great insight on what genre and audience we are catering to.
Results:
- Most of our audience involves young adults ages 14 – 22 which means their attention span isn’t much hence, we would need to keep them hooked every second of the film.
- Almost everyone wants to see romance and political thrillers. The reason for this being our Pakistani audience and of course every kid here is deeply involved and opinionated politically.
- We now are aware that most of our promotion needs to be done on Instagram hence, we made an Instagram account as soon as we got the response.
- The questionnaire was sent across multiple media platforms which makes in more valid ecologically (yes, I take psychology and yes, I suck at it)

We are slowly building a strong base. We know our audience and conducted thorough research on preferences and colours. The colours we want are yellow, purple and more warm tones. These colours appeal our audience. The location needs to be aesthetically pleasing to cater to Gen Z. Now, let’s start the exhausting work.
I’ll meet you at the location in the next post.
